Journal Exchange

My friend, Valaine and I had a journal exchange and this is the one I made for her. I created the cover with a piece of canvas that I painted and embellished. I love this journal! It's my favorite by far and I'm so glad that Valaine can enjoy it for herself.

Today I decided to go outside and take down the Christmas lights...I know...a little late, isn't it. Cleveland joined me and posed long enough for me to take his photo.

I'm out of my boots and back into my sneakers which is good.

I gessoed watercolor paper to begin with and I drew into the gesso while it was still wet to create texture. I then added paint, ink, charcoal, carbon, chalk, vintage newspaper, rubber stamps and text. I used an image transfer technique to transfer a drawing of my daughter to the surface of the paper, then enhanced the drawing with charcoal. I splattered paint, scratched with a blade, rubbed the surface with sandpaper to create texture. Fun, fun, fun...
